Vigna Santa Margherita is one of the wines most dear to all of us in Panizzi. The mother vineyard of Panizzi in every sense.

This is the vineyard from where the first Vernaccia Panizzi Riserva was born in 1991. This is the vineyard to which Panizzi dedicates its very own wine, the cru of Vigna Santa Margherita, first vintage 2003. We opened this very first bottle of Santa Margherita with Intravino team and this is what they wrote about it:

First vintage of the single vineyard Vernaccia Santa Margherita, which is the historical nucleus of the winery. Although half of the wine stays in second passage barrels and half in steel, the woody notes are identifiable. Despite the hot and difficult vintage, on the olfactory analysis, it is the floral notes are forward and prevails over the fruity tones, giving it grace and lightness: helichrysum flowers, linden flowers, lemon and mint tea. In the mouth it is multifaceted: full, juicy, fragrant characterized by acid tension and light woody aromas, moderate alcoholic hotness for the vintage. 90, a miracle in 2003.

The winemaking process of this wine stayed unaltered from its first vintage. 100% Vernaccia from the Vigna Santa Margherita. Whole cluster pressed. 50% is fermented in stainless steel and 50% in French barrique second use for 6 to 8 months. After, the wine is blended and bottled, with minimum 12 months bottle refinement to follow.
