Tuscany makes 90: for another year it is the region with the most 3 Glasses in the Gambero Rosso 2021 Italian Wine Guide. And in this elite of wine excellences there is the 2016 Reserve of Vernaccia di San Gimignano by Panizzi.

Another recognition, certainly one of the most prestigious, which comes with the previews of the winners of the Guide; the assignment of the highest rating to the historic Panizzi wine is now official, as it requires very special care for its production. It comes from a single vineyard at a height of 400 meters placed on a tuffaceous plateau; elaborated in barrique, Vernaccia Riserva Panizzi is the best demonstration of the extraordinary capacity to evolve and improve over time of this varietal giving life to a wine that best expresses the aging potential of the white wine of San Gimignano origin.

Straw yellow colour, enlivened by green hue and tinged by bronzed gold, it has a broad, aristocratic, complex aromas, with notes of flowers and walnut, grapefruit and melon, which gradually fade into a delicate vanillin background harmoniously mingled with the mineral notes recalling flint and wet stone. Great enveloping palate, concentrated, savoury, perfectly balanced, with a finish enlivened by great acidity. Complex, mineral, it has a long persistence with an aftertaste of rich ripe fruit. The Panizzi Riserva is excellent in match for baked fish, white meats, preparations with delicate sauces, aged cheeses, creamy blue cheeses.

The 3 Bicchieri award for the newest vintage of Vernaccia Riserva Panizzi comes to confirm a vision of quality that projected us on a journey that began a little over thirty years ago; at the same today we are continuing to add new important projects that embody our vision, and Panizzi, under the guide of Simone Niccolai and technical direction of Walter Sovran, is engaged in newer directions with labels that experiment with different vinifications or that use less usual grape varietals for this area, such as pinot noir.
