Vernaccia 2020 Preview: they say about us

The 2020 Preview of Vernaccia di San Gimignano was held in February, where San Gimignano producers presented the new vintages to be released in 2020, the 2019 Vernaccia di San Gimignano and previous Riserva vintages.

“PANIZZI,” writes Corriere del Vino, “always constitutes a security in the Vernaccia di San Gimignano scene. The 2019 Vernaccia is captivating with its aromas of flowers and herbs, its fleshy and savory palate of beautiful freshness.”

Leonardo Romanelli’s praise for Panizzi’s Riserva 2013 at the 2020 Preview of Vernaccia di San Gimignano was flattering: “Panizzi – Riserva 2013. Celo celo!!! It’s that refined style you find in Panizzi’s Vernaccias that knows how to combine thickness and wood to a never tiring and highly satisfying drink.”

“An elegance that one struggles to find elsewhere in the room. A security,” is Fisar Empoli’s assessment of Panizzi’s vintage Vernaccia: a history and a name amply confirmed by quality.

Luciano Pignataro counts our Vernaccia 2019 (“Panizzi – Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2019: citrus, Mediterranean scrub and spice”) and Santa Margherita 2018 (“Panizzi – Vigna Santa Margherita 2018: flint notes, pleasant, fresh”) among his best tastings. Intravino’s ratings are also on the same very positive line: “Panizzi (2019) linden and locust sweetness, pleasant sip with almondy finish 88; Panizzi Santa Margherita (2018) balsamic and ginger, red and yellow orange, sip of substance and energy, finish of beautiful length 91; Panizzi Riserva (2016) wood piacevol33e, vanilla cumin and mint, cinnamon and orange , rich and intense sip, rocky finish of beautiful length and extract 91.”

For the 2016 Riserva, Winenews also expresses a very positive judgment: “Confirming the propensity of Vernaccia di San Gimignano to age (…) Panizzi’s Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva 2016, with delicate aromas at times only a little hidden by some redundant woody touches, which in the mouth has volume, tonicity and length.”

Also the Wine Courier published a retrospective, by Urano Cupisti, on the section of the Preview entitled “Vernaccia di San Gimignano: a great classic meets the world’s new classics. In search of wines of terroir “. Panizzi’s 2013 Vernaccia Riserva received an excellent rating (89/100) in Urano Cupisti’s evaluation.
