Innovators of Vernaccia di San Gimignano and pioneers in the territory with pinot noir, we are dedicated to viticulture and olive growing, pursuing two guidelines: identity and quality. With determination and lack of compromise, we pursue our mission: to produce wines of authentic and sustainable, pure expression of the territory and with great evolutionary capabilities.
It all began in 1979, when Giovanni Panizzi bought Podere Santa Margherita, located just outside the medieval walls of San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just two hectares of vineyard, which over time became a symbol of winemaking excellence in the most difficult years for Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
It took 10 years of work and experimentation to give birth to the first Vernaccia di San Gimignano, which came out in 1989, with an unmistakable label, deliberately modern and out of the box, a symbol of avant-garde just like the wine it accompanied.
Panizzi's experimental soul continues constantly on Vernaccia, investigating its evolutionary potential on the one hand and essaying long macerations on the other. But the avant-garde spirit also involves "new" varieties for San Gimignano, first and foremost pinot noir, a challenge that sees us in the forefront of investigating the potential of the enfant terrible in our territory.
We are waiting for you in Larniano, a small village of medieval origin, dating back to the 11th-12th centuries, located near the route of the Via Francigena. Here you will be able to taste our products in a cozy and familiar atmosphere, in the hall made out of one of the old farmhouses, which enjoys a panoramic view of the vineyards, olive groves and forest.
