We are pleased to share the scores given by James Suckling to some of our wines.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2022 – 90pts

A mid-weighted, textural and prodigiously fresh dry white, with substantially more interest than the majority from the region. Arguably the top producer of the denomination. Fennel, Granny Smith apple and spiced quince, sluiced with a saline thread of acidity. Admirably poised and easy drinking. From organically grown grapes.
*****
Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vigna Santa Margherita 2021 – 91pts

Aromas of apricot stones, dried apples, crushed almonds and biscuits. Medium-bodied, textured and creamy with a delicious biscuity character. Very fresh, too. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
*****
Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva 2019 – 92pts

This producer shifts the needle of a famous DOCG, largely responsible for many innocuous wines, to a dial of some intrigue. A confluence of barrel and judicious lees work, beamed across a fray of almond meal, truffle, flint and mandarin. The mid-palate is nourished by a kernel of creamed cashew and nougat. The finish, impressively tenacious. Drink or hold.
*****
San Gimignano Folgòre 2019 – 91pts

A blend of cab, merlot and sangiovese, pulled off with considerable aplomb. A mid-weighted offering, with density, layers and class. Oodles of currants, tomato leaf, green olive spread and dried sage. A fine, graphite-laden length with panache. Drink or hold
*****
Chianti Colli Senesi 2020 – 88pts

Solid Chianti Senesi, exhibiting the mid-weighted and savory frisk of tannin and edge of acidity that one expects. Tomato leaf, cherry bitters and menthol, splayed across a versatile finish of admirable energy. The sort of wine that one can reach for glass after glass. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
